Carambola, also known as starry fruit, is the fruit of Averrhoa carambola, a tree species native to tropical southeastern Asia.

    Star fruit is commonly consumed throughout Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Micronesia, parts of East Asia, and The Caribbean.  

    When cut in cross-section, it resembles a star, giving its name as star fruit. The entire fruit is edible, usually raw, and maybe cooked or made into relishes, preserves, garnishes, and juices.

    Star fruit is an exotic fruit that shows off its aura, with a waxy yellow exterior and tropical whiff. It’s a star, either way, which may be consumed raw or cooked. The sight of this fruit bewitched you.

        A traveler named Linschoten, a Dutch, named it a sour apple with ribs. Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, and India are the cultivators of this lovely fruit.

    This fruit grows in two different flavors and with size, the unripe (smaller) is Sour and the ripe (larger) is sweeter. You can choose as per your taste buds, but sour sounds are mouthwatering.

Originally, Carambola springs from the Sanskrit word Karamaranga, which means appetizer food.

    In India, pickles are made of Carambola and are used as a souring agent in chutneys. The ripped ones are sweeter and are processed to form wine. The sour ones are Cooked as vegetables and salads.

    Just envision the unripe fruit being cut one by one then mixed with spicy flavour And salt. Isn’t it irresistible?

    The trees are also grown as ornamentals for their abundant brightly colored and unusually shaped fruits, as well as for their attractive dark green leaves and Their lavender to pink flowers. 

    Like the bilimbi, the juice of the more acidic sour types can be used to clean rusty or tarnished metal (especially brass) as well as bleach rust stains from cloth. They may also be used as a mordant in Dyeing.
