Cashews in summer have always been an eye-catchy and mouthwatering fruit. The Anacardium occidentale, in summer, bears pear-shaped fruit called the cashew apple.

Cashew apples are orange, red, or yellow, attached to a kidney-shaped seed below the fruit, which is green while immature and greyish while matured. These cashew apples are thrice the size of the seed.

    The seeds are rich in oil, and in southern India, they're used while preparing meat and vegetables. The nut within the grey shield is rich in protein and is consumed as a protein snack.

    Cashew nuts are a star ingredient garnished in rice or sweet items. India, Africa, and Vietnam is a natural habitat where this fruit is grown extensively. The fruit, the juice, and the nut are absolutely irresistible.
The fruits grow in January and are harvested in about two months.

    The foremost extracted juice from this fruit is urak. It’s a Goan drink where the juice of cashew fruit is mixed with lime that gives explicit taste and aroma, and Feni, a Goan's famous street drink is available throughout the year.

    The sticky substance produced within the fruit is poisonous and if consumed it would cause skin irritation.

    Cashews have a high level of antioxidant that helps in the avoidance of blindness, as one grows older. You can get many useful benefits by just consuming cashew nuts and they help in growing long and glossy hair. They also help in reducing weight and are good for cardiopathy. Therefore, have a few cashews every day and stay healthy.
